"I want a blue cake" has been the sentence that has haunted me lately. You see, BLUE is becoming VERY VERY VERY popular in the cake world. And you KNOW I love to give people what they want, and if they want a blue cake, they shall get it. But for some reason, BLUE and I just DO NOT GET ALONG.
Because BLUE isn't just blue. Blue is THIS:
And that is just 1000th of what BLUE is. So, if they say, "Blue," "Light Blue," "Aqua," "Light Aqua," "Baby Blue," "Tiffany Blue," "Teal," "Light Teal," "Sky Blue," "Bright Blue," "Pale Blue," I LITERALLY have no idea what they are talking about anymore because BELIEVE ME, I have TRIED to give them the BLUE that they want....BUT, it's always wrong....
No matter if we have a swatch of fabric and emailed color, even an invitation...it just DOESN'T seem to either be the right shade or "exactly what I had in mind." Because even when you HAVE the exact color in front of you...when you cover an entire cake with it the color seems to change. Is it the right shade? YES. But, sometimes it just doesn't come out RIGHT because blue, isn't blue, isn't BLUE.
So, here we are...stuck in a popular trend of "adding blue to your wedding cake," and EVERYONE and their MOTHER OF THE BRIDE has a different idea of how to do that. And, no matter how much you BEG them to add just a touch here or there...your advice is sometimes not listened to, and they get what they ordered....even though it "just doesn't look right."
So what is a Baykah to do????
Never do a blue cake again? BAN blue from the bakery??? DELETE it from the rainbow???
No. Just try and try again....and call...and confirm...and email...and email again.
Because I WANT to get it right. I WANT you to be happy. I WANT you to love your cake. So, we will keep trying, and at SOME POINT we will ALL understand which BLUE is BLUE is blue.
